Week 4: Top Box Scores

Week Four in the Sunflower State was a wild one in Class 4A. With one quarterback throwing for nearly 400 yards, another piling up over 500 yards of total offense, and a running back going for 487 yards and six touchdowns in a single game, the week's top performances all came at the 4A level.

Passing

Class 4A-I Labette County quarterback Logan Dean had a stellar night, completing 20 of 33 passes for 393 yards and a whopping seven touchdowns in a 53-12 victory over 4A-II Parsons.

4A-I Bishop Miege QB Carter Putz completed 18 of 26 passes for 276 yards and two scores. Miege defeated a quality 5A team in St. Thomas Aquinas 41-21.

Class 5A Kapaun Mt. Carmel's Brock Monty was 13 of 29, passing for 265 yards and two TDs in a 31-21 victory over 6A Wichita West.

Rushing

In Class 4A-II action, Osawatomie running back Riley England carried the ball 18 times for 487 yards and six TDs, as the Trojans beat Iola 47-19. For his career, England has now rushed for 4,894 yards and 52 scores.

In 4A-I action, Maize South QB Korie Frausto rushed for 347 yards and six TDs on 25 carries. He also threw for 158 yards and another score as Maize South downed Andover Central in a 51-41 shoot-out.

In Flint Hills league action, Nick Streeter of Class 3A West Franklin had 27 carries for 294 yards rushing and three TDs in a 33-12 victory over Class 2A Herington.

Receiving

4A-I Andover Central star receiver Darraja Parnell had a night to remember, with five consecutive TD receptions of 28, 87, 64, 66, and 13 yards. Parnell finished the game with 271 receiving yards on six catches in a 51-41 loss to 4A-I Maize South.

4A-I Labette County saw their top receiver Klein Ryan go off for 11 catches for 209 yards and five scores in a 53-12 victory over 4A-II Parsons.

In an 8-Man II match-up, Sharon Springs-Wallace County receiver Spencer Medina had seven catches for 169 yards and two TDs against Northwest Kansas League rival Hoxie. The Wildcats defeated Hoxie 48-18.

Top Defensive Performances

Colton Haney of Class 2A Chase County collected 21 tackles on the night in a defensive battle. Chase County lost 12-7 to 2A Lyndon.

Kolton Sheppard of 2A Leoti-Wichita County had 20 tackles in a 33-6 loss to 2A Elkhart.

Jacob Jenkins of 3A Chaparral lived in the offensive backfield against 2A Medicine Lodge in a 57-0 shut-out victory. Jenkins collected 4.0 sacks and 10 tackles on the night.
