Ryan Swanson resigns at Hutchinson CC
Hutchinson Community College men's basketball coach Ryan Swanson has resigned his post effective immediately, the HCC athletic department announced late Wednesday.
Swanson, a Hutchinson native, became the 13th coach of the second-winningest program in April 2006.
In three seasons with the Blue Dragons, He was 66-29. In eight seasons as a junior college head coach, Swanson compiled a 202-86 record.
HCC went 23-8 in his first season and was eliminated in the first round of the Region VI Tournament by Kansas City. Earlier that season, Swanson's Blue Dragons upset No. 1 Midland College at the Sports Arena.
In Swanson's second season, the Blue Dragons went 23-9 and advanced to the Region VI quarterfinals. First-Team All-American Bobby Maze was the catalyst of that team that finished second in the Jayhawk West runner-up.
This season, the Blue Dragons were 20-12 and finished fifth in the Jayhawk West. After going on the road to defeat Neosho County in the first round of the Region VI Tournament, the Dragons were eliminated in the Region VI quarterfinals by Barton.
