New BA coach at FSCC

Fort Scott, KS - July 29, 2008. Fort Scott Community College has hired John Hill III to be the 'Hounds new head baseball coach. Hill will take over a strong program at FSCC. "Coach Moddelmog has created a very positive atmosphere here and I wish to continue the high academic standards he has set for his team and the winning record he has accumulated", said Hill.

Hill began his career in coaching with the Arrow Rents team in the Ban Johnson League from 2003-2004. He spent three years at Pittsburg State University where he was a hitting coach, helping the Gorillas earn two national rankings including the 2005 season when they were 5th in batting average.
After coaching at PSU, Hill joined the staff at Neosho County Community College as an assistant coach. Hill also has been the head coach of the Nevada Griffons for the last four years. While with the Griffons, Hill's teams placed 9th in the 2005 & 2006 NBC World Series and 11th last season.
Hill began his playing career at Highland Community College and continued his baseball career at Baker University. After college Hill played international baseball including time on a professional team, the Tuebingen Hawks of the German Major League.
Coach Hill brings experience and enthusiasm to the Greyhound program. He is excited about the opportunity to continue a strong program and to challenge his players. "My goal is to make these players better scholars, athletes, and citizens. If I am able to do that the wins and losses will take care of themselves", Hill said.
Hill earned his Bachelor's Degree from Baker University in Physical Education in 2003 and his Master's Degree from Pittsburg State University in 2005. John who is originally from Lawrence, Kansas is engaged to Lindsay Sowder of Toronto, Kansas. Lindsay is an assistant volleyball coach at Pittsburg State University.
