Mac sweeps Rockets

Offense and defensive mistakes were the rule on opening night as McPherson took a pair from the Rose Hill Rockets on the small diamond Thursday night.
Bullpup sophomore shortstop Chelsey Kerr homered over the left field fence in game one, while senior sister, Kiley Kerr hit the gap and had to leg her home run out ahead of the relay throw. (The 200 foot snow fence has not been installed on the diamond as of yet)

McPherson won the first game 11-8, then took the second 7-5 as both teams made mistakes both running the bases, as well as picking the ball up and throwing it. It was a typical first game.
The Lady Rockets had plenty of chances, especially in game two where they loaded the basses with no outs, and failed to score, hitting into the home to first double play.
Word in twitter world has Mulvane girls splitting with Augusta in a game between top five schools in 4A, Division I, and 5A second ranked Goddard beat up on 6A Derby, taking game one 3-1 in regulation, then hammering out an 18-3 run rule in three in game two.
Also around the state, Hays's Hannah Herrald struck out 16 in her first game back in action after tearing an ACL out in her freshman year causing her to miss last season. Hays took a pair from Goodland to open the season.
In SE Kansas, Chanute took a pair from Iona and Pittsburg took two from Columbus.
So far we have heard nothing on the Wellington, Buhler and Clearwater triangular.
On Friday, we see Eisenhower is at Salina Central in the only Wichita area game.
