Knox homers twice in win

EL DORADO, Kan. - Jordan Knox hit two home runs and Michael Cerullo added another as the Butler baseball team won its fifth consecutive game with a 12-0 win over visiting Brown Mackie on Thursday at McDonald Stadium.
The three home runs and 12 runs both tied season highs for the Grizzlies. Butler also scored 12 runs with three home runs against Independence on Feb. 18.

Butler started the scoring in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Evan Koehler. That gives him 25 RBI on the season, which leads the team.
In the bottom of the second, Jordan Knox hit a solo home run to right field to make it 2-0. Knox also had a two-run home run to center field in the fifth inning.
Michael Cerullo's home run was a three-run shot in the bottom of the sixth. Michael Bird also drove in a pair of runs with a single to right center in the fifth, while Garrett White and Jeff Christen had RBI singles in the third inning.
On the mound, Butler used six different pitcher to combine for the four-hit shutout. Greg Houser started and threw two innings. Jackson Rolfs, Gibson Russ, Miguel Vasquez, Eliot King and Max Chadsey each threw scoreless innings. It is the first shutout of the season for Butler.
Butler is now 12-8 on the season and will continue its run of non-conference games with a four-game series this weekend against Longview (Mo.). Doubleheaders will start Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
