Kansas State commit Wyatt Hubert will be at the Rivals Camps Series Kansas City Regional this Sunday.

Tecumseh (KS) Shawnee Heights defensive end Wyatt Hubert goes after what he wants. A lifelong Kansas State fan, the 6-foot-3, 240-pound junior left Junior Day in Manhattan with an offer from the Wildcats. He committed to head coach Bill Snyder a day later, becoming the Cats first commitment in the class of 2017 just days after National Signing Day 2016.

After working hard in the offseason, Hubert has set his sights on the Rivals Camp Kansas City Regional. The three-star end previewed Sunday’s action with KansasGridiron.

What are you looking forward to most about the Rivals Camp this Sunday in Kansas City?

Hubert: I’m looking forward to competing, and meeting all the local recruits from the Midwest.

As a Kansas prospect, do you feel a responsibility to go out and prove that there is talent in the Sunflower State?

Hubert: For sure. It’s us local kids’ jobs to prove that we can ball out just as much as any other area in the nation.

What is your personal goal for Sunday's camp?

Hubert: My personal goal is to win the defensive line MVP. I’ve been putting in a lot of work on technique drills, and have been working hard at the position.

Is there another prospect you are looking forward to competing against, or seeing up close?

Hubert: I’m excited to compete against Harrison Creed from Ulysses. He seems like a good player, so we’ll see what he’s about. I’m also excited to see my man Anthony Payne. We’ve become close through camps and recruiting.

Is this your first time participating in a regional football camp like this? How did you prepare?

Hubert: Yes, this will be my first Regional Rivals Camp. I’ve prepared very well. I’ve put in a lot of good, hard work. It will pay off.

How did you feel when you found out you had been invited to compete in a Rivals Camp, and that you are considered one of the top prospects in Kansas?

Hubert: It feels good. I love to compete, especially with local kids, to see who’s the biggest competitor, and who wants it the most. Also to see which kid is tough or not, because that’s a main characteristic in football. It’s nice to be one of the top recruits in Kansas. It’s a very humbling and honorable experience that I’ve been blessed to have. It will always push me to become the best I can be.

What aspect of your game do you hope to showcase in front of the Rivals staff?

Hubert: My quickness and explosiveness, especially off the ball.
